Review: Their Champion Complete Series: Books 1-4

Their Champion Complete Series: Books 1-4 by K.A. Knight My rating: 3 of 5 stars I did not know what I was getting into when I downloaded this complete series! K.A. Knight's dystopian "Mad Max" style story is intense, gritty, and raw! There are scenes of horrific torture and rape and as the reader you definitely get the picture that humanity has sunk to it's most base animalistic behaviors. There is no community, there is no hope, there is only predator and prey. There is only darkness. This series is not for the faint of heart or a casual reader. K.A. Knight does not pull any punches in her story telling or her descriptive dialogues. Her characters are not sugar and spice or anything nice. Her main female protagonist is leather and fire and blades and she makes no apologies for being just as brutal as the landscape around her. Yet if you asked me if I liked this series my answer would be yes. I liked it. I liked the rawness of it. ...

The Last House On Needless Street by Catriona Ward

Image
Thank you to Netgalley and Tor Nightfire for a copy of the eARC in exchange for a fair review. A man, a missing girl, a daughter, a bible reading cat and a desperate sister all converge on Needless Street. Ted lives there with his daughter and his cat Olivia. Although sometimes his daughter leaves, but no one sees her coming or going. He has had problems every since the little girl with the Popsicle disappeared.  He knows that there is a Murderer in his town, and he is trying to figure it out, but Ted drinks too much and has secrets. Olivia his cat helps him in his worst moments. Dee is desperate to find her sister Lulu and after she sees the newspaper with Ted's picture in it and the headline subjects house searched she knows that he has her sister.  Little does she know that it is deeper then that. Ted does have secrets, but I won't reveal them here, because it will give the whole book away. I admit this for you if you like unreliable narrators. I found this confusing...

The 22 Murders of Madison May by Max Barry

Thank you to Netgally and G.P. Putnam Son's for a copy of the eARC in exchange for a fair review. Madison May is a realtor showing a trashy house to a client when things get weird, so weird in fact because even though she took his picture and sent it to her agency the guy still kills her. However, before he does he tells her that he has met her in other lives and she disappoints and then he has to kill her in every one he met her in. Felicity is just a reporter who has to cover a crime story for her friend Levi, when she first learns about Madison May and that may have been the end of it all. If she didn't end up tailing a guy named Hugo who has supposedly killed his wife and ends up with a token that changes her entire life. When Felicity gets off the train tracks she finds that her coworker doesn't know who Hugo is, and things here are just a tad different. A clock is missing off her work desk and she has one less cat and Madison May isn't murdered. The...

Anela Dean is new to me as a reader and 'In the Jaded Grove' is the first book of hers that I've read. I had no expectations when I came to this story and wow am I glad! First let me talk about this book cover. All of you that have read my reviews know that I don't wax on and on about book covers, for me it's all about the story, and yet, this book cover is soo beautiful. It's beautiful in it's simplicity and I loved the colors. I literally just went back and stared at this book cover over and over again. Like I want to frame this and hang it on my bedroom wall. Now, let's talk about this story and exciting it was! Simith is my new favorite Pixie in all genres hands down! I loved him!
