April Showers brought us May Book Releases!

I hope you all enjoyed our guest book reviewer in April Mrs. Roxanne Reber. It's now the merry month of May and wow do we have a deluge of new book releases to get through. May is the heavy hitter for most of the popular authors but for quite a few of our beloved independent authors as well.

I've been busy catching up with some of our regular authors new releases and even sampling (Ok binging) on some new authors as well. I'm going to get to those soon but first let's kick this blog post off with some of the new releases that have come out and some that are still pending. Get your calendar out and get ready to start filling in these dates! :)

First on the List I'd like to say THANK YOU to one of our favorite authors C.L. Stone for her newly released and highly anticipated new installment in the Ghost Bird series as well her new installment in the spin off series The Scarab Beetle.

The Other Side of Envy was one of the late April releases that I've been pining for since it's announcement last year and she did not disappoint. Gabriel has always been one of my favorite Academy boys and this book was so full of heart rending emotions. It really moved the story forward in leaps and bounds. We got to see some more of Mr. Blackborne and his growing, albeit subdued, feelings for Sang and that hot make out session between her and one of the other Academy boys..yeah that was worth it! Before you ask..nope I'm not spoiling the surprise of who that session was with you'll just have to read the book like the rest of us. As always we get our end of book Academy report that leaves us hanging for the next book but THIS time she throws us for a tailspin with a HUGE reveal at the end of the book. It took me days to get over that one!!
For our older crowd the new installment of the Scarab Beetle series came out as well and because I love you all sooo much I read this one too. Just kidding I'd have read it anyway because I just love this authors work. If you've read both of these series you know that the basic elements are the same and that's about where the similarities end. The Scarab Beetle series is more young adult than teen fiction and though it deals with some of the same social constructs as The Ghost Bird Series most of the story is about the Academy itself. This series tends to move a bit slower in terms of her relationships with the Academy Team she's connected too but you don't really feel that loss because each one is so packed with suspense, mystery, and near misses your heart is pounding from that alone. If you were hoping to see more of Blake in this installment you might be a little bit disappointed as he doesn't play as pivotal a role as he has in the earlier books. Blake is still in there and he's going strong as a major player for her heart but we get introduced to a new boy in this series. Avery is a cab driver that ends up being more of a wheel man who helps her out of one dangerous situation after another. He is sweet, somewhat of a pot head, a magician with his slight of hand and he has mad mad driving skills. I think you'll all be happy with this newest addition to The Scarab Beetle series I know I was. I'm hoping the next book in this series will bring us more of our favorite Professional Russian Raven.

The upcoming books are being released later in May!

From Aileen Erin the latest installment in her Alpha Series comes out next week May 12th. Feast your eyes on the cover art and then head on over to InkMonster to get a sneak peek of Chapter One. http://inkmonster.net/blog/bruja-sneak-peek-chapter-one

My next Author as you all know is the one that inspired me to kick off this Book Review blog in the first place and I am STUPID excited about the release date of the third book in her series. Let's give it up for S.L. Morgan and the May 18th (tentative) release date of her new book Awakening book three in the Ancient Guardians Series.

Check back next week for my review of our new author Elizabeth Reyes and her series 5th Street. If you like underdogs who win in the end and heart pounding adrenaline with swoon worthy guys and real down to earth relationships then this is the series for you!
