Wake the Hollow by Gaby Triana

Review of Wake the Hollow by Gaby Triana

Thank you to Entangled Teen and Netgalley for eArc in exchange for an honest review.

So where do I start, how about I read this book from start to finish today. Seriously loved it, it took me a little bit to get into it, but once the story got going I couldn't stop I had to know what was going on.

Micaela returns to Sleepy Hollow after learning about the death of her mother. She knows something is going on, because she received a note from her mother begging her to come back just days before her death. Micaela knows there is a deeper issue because her mother sent the note to her best friend and not to Micaela.

Once back in Sleepy Hollow she learns that one of Washing Irving's journals is missing and that many suspect her mother was the culprit. Mica stays with her childhood friend Bram, and is immediately torn between him and the handsome assistant teacher Dane.

As she learns more and more Mica begins to suspect her mother didn't die accidentally, and just how involved in it all is her father?

I can't say that I shipped either love interest, but I was mildly shocked by the ending, and yeah you know me no spoilers. However, I will say that someone won me over by the end, and that ending ahhhh.... It only shows one book on goodreads, but I can't believe this is the end. Not with the way it ended it is just begging for another story and I for one sincerely hope, beg, plead that there be another!

All of that aside Washington Irving and Mary Shelley in a book together, like words cannot express how much I love this, like I mean love this! This retelling or modern Sleepy Hollow story was the bomb! I mean, well you have to know how deeply I love Frankenstein to understand how happy this paring makes my heart! I didn't even know it was a dream come true until I read this and I hope that, yes that makes me so happy.
I love how Mica grew during this book, really grew into herself and became comfortable with all that she could do.
Also loved the descendants of Irving's family and how serious everyone in Sleepy Hollow was about recreating the book. Like that is a festival I would and I mean totally would go see people dressed up as Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman!  It was almost like the author took things out of my head that I didn't even know was in there, and put them all in a book for me.  So go read this now!!! Thank me later!
