Review of A Stranger in the House by Shari Lapena

A Stranger in the House by Shari Lapena

I won a copy of the ARC in a Goodreads giveaway.

A woman is racing away from something when she ends up crashing her car into a pole. Across town Tom arrives home to find his home unlocked and his wife missing. Thinking nothing of it he makes dinner and waits, by as time passes the more worried he gets so he calls 911. Shortly after police officers arrive at his house to tell him that his wife has been in an accident.

They also relay the details of the reckless driving which will most likely result in charges, when Tom arrives at the hospital he is stunned to find out that Karen doesn't remember a thing. Soon their neighbor Brigid arrives to visit with Karen, and Tom wonders what is going to happen. They consult with a lawyer, but both Karen and Tom are completely shocked when a set of Detectives arrive at their house to question Karen about a murder.

Soon Tom is at a complete loss as to what is going on or even who his wife is, Karen is frightened but knows she couldn't possibly have killed someone. Meanwhile Brigid is watching and waiting.

I hate being so vague, but so much happened in this book that I know  I would give away major details if I really want on about this book. I am still not quite sure if I like the ending, but it thrilled me and threw me for a loop. Everything I suspected was not quite right. I will say that I really didn't like any of the characters, they were all liars and just a tad crazy. However, it worked I couldn't stop reading this, I just could not until I finished it.
