Trigger Warning: Rape

This is told from several points of view: Kate (barrister) Sophie (the wife) James (the politician) Ali (Kate's friend) and Holly (not going to say).

Kate has just lost a case, a rape case because the defense managed to make the victim look bad and it really upsets her. Sophie has just found that her husband James was carrying on a affair with a woman he worked with named Olivia.

James is arrested for rape and Sophie is reeling, but oddly enough Kate is ready to destroy him. Holly's introduced and she is a friend of Sophie's in college and has met James when she was dating him. That story is told in flashbacks while in the present the trial is going against Jame.

I will leave that there, because saying too much will spoil things that are meant to be unveiled at just the right time. This was a great story talking about the problems of getting justice for rape victims in the court system. While this is set in Britain it could easily fit in America as well.

I am not sure how I feel about the ending other than there is some good that happens. I know that is vague but who really wants to know the ending before the beginning. Honestly, this was masterfully written, I didn't know who I liked or who to connect with, who was guilty or innocent and it kept changing as things were revealed. I like to be kept on my toes!
