Bring Me Their Hearts by Sara Wolf

Thank you to Entangled Teen for a copy of the ARC in exchange for a fair review.

Zera is Heartless, the immortal soldiers of witches. Nightsinger, the witch that made her holds her heart and in a jar and Zera follows her orders in hopes of getting her heart back someday. So when she is ordered to take the Crown Prince's heart in exchange for her own, she willingly joins in the quest to take his heart and prevent a war between the witches and the people.

However, Zera is shocked when she finally meets the Prince and realizes that he is her friend Whisper, a thief. But her heart is at stake and so she sets asides what little feelings she has, and gets to know the Prince better.  As she gets in deeper and deeper, she finds that not having a heart doesn't mean you don't have feelings. Will she be able to take his heart when the time comes or will she save him from the conspiracy unfolding?

I have to admit that lately fantasy hasn't been appealing to me, but I loved the premise of this book. The Heartless sound terrifying, warriors controlled by witches that can't die. However, I loved Zera she clearly struggled to remember who she was and she felt bad about the things she was ordered or compelled to do. The hunger she feels is part of the compulsion. It must be feed and it is terrible to control. It needs to be feed.

Once the story got going I could not not stop reading it. I had to know what was going to happen. I have heard that is supposed to be a trilogy and I cannot wait to see where Sara takes this story. Especially since she ended this with a huge reveal.
